SAGAING DIVISION – The office of the People’s Defence Army, Ministry of Defence, National Unity Government (NUG) reported that weapons of the enemy junta army were confiscated and two Faw vehicles were destroyed during the battle in Sa Khan Gyi Village, Kalay Wa Township, Sagaing Division.
It is stated that on June 16, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., a terrorist military council column of around 130 soldiers from junta light infantry battalion (LIB) 362 (based in Kyi Gone), police and Pyu Saw Htee militants arrived with three Faw vehicles along the Yar Gyi Road to transport troops, weapons, and food from Kalay Wa Town, located near Sa Khan Gyi Village, to Min Kin Township. PDF Kalay District Battalion 9 is reported to have intercepted and attacked said junta column at this moment.
It is reported that two Faw vehicles were burned and destroyed. Two MA-11 rifles; two G-3 guns; three ammunition boxes of MA-11; six ammunition boxes of G-3; one MG 3 machinegun, one MA-7 60-mm long-ranged mortar, 60-mm grenades, five RPG warheads, and five Energa grenades; one .38 Webly Wesson revolver; one jammer; two M-14 landmines; and more than 30 hand grenades as well as bullets and other related items were seized during the battle.
The NUG Ministry of Defence, announced that the PDF soldiers were able to retreat without any injuries, but it is still investigating the enemy casualties during the battle.
