MYANMAR – The Ministry of Defence of National Unity Government (NUG) sent a congratulatory message to P29999 / Special Operations Forces – SOF, the special arms unit of the Southern Military Region, for the 3rd year anniversary of forming the SOF on July 21.
In the message, it was highlighted the tribute towards the people’s heroes who sacrificed their lives and proud of each and every individual commanders and comrades at all levels for their clear revolutionary stand point and bravely attack towards the terrorist junta army.
In addition to this, the Ministry of Defense also said that it believes that all the comrades are ready for upcoming major operations.
The Special Operations Force – SOF was established on July 21, 2021, and since the beginning of the People’s Defensive War on September 7, 2021, SOF has been involved in urban operations, such as Pyan Hlwar Aung, Nang Htike Aung operations in Yangon, Ayeyarwaddy, Bago divisions and Mon State.
The SOF carried out 62 operations in the city and were able to defeat up to 101 junta soldiers.
For rural operation, it has involved in 74 battles together with the drone troops and Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA).
SOF were able to attack and seize up to 9 military bases of junta council, and 249 enemy soldiers were killed, more than 150 prisoners of war were captured and more than 300 various weapons were seized during the three years of defensive war.
The Special Operations Forces – SOF will continue to fight against the fascist army together with KNLA and the Revolutionary Joint Forces in Karen State, Mon State and Tanintharyi Division until the end of the revolution, SOF informed the public in a statement.
