MANDALAY DIVISION – Mandalay People’s Defence Force (MDY PDF) captured the town of Singu on July 20 afternoon and it is said that over 100 prisoners of war (POWs) and Non-CDM staff (government staff who continued to serve the junta council) were also captured.
MDY PDF stated that they are detaining them according to the POW regulations and conducting investigations.
“The POWs and junta council staff that we captured in Singu number over 100 in total. We are working to send them to a safe location and to start investigations. We are not clear about the exact details,” said Mr. Osmond, the information officer of MDY PDF.
Several Non-CDM staff fled Singu when MDY PDF launched offensives in the town but those who continued working for the junta council were captured by the revolutionary forces.
“Most junta council staff in Singu fled the town. We captured some. Right now, we are still conducting investigations,” explained Mr. Osmond.
Singu is the first town captured by MDY PDF during the Shan-Man Operation of 1027 Operation Part 2 and the PDF had conducted a 20 day long offensive to capture the town.
