SAGAING DIVISION – Over 10,000 local people from the villages along the Chindwin River in Yinmabin and Kani Townships were forced to flee their homes after the junta council troops launched an offensive along the river, reported a local.
An over 300 strong junta column reportedly launched an offensive from Ahlone Mindaung Port in Monywa starting around 6 a.m. on August 1.
“They came out in motorboats from Ahlone Mindaung Port along the Chindwin River. They have yet to carry out offensives on land,” said a resident.
It is said that the residents of at least ten villages including Saytu Village, Thanbo Village, Kyaumhaw Village, Labhoe Village, Ohnpinseik Village and Aitaung Village are currently fleeing.
