SAGAING DIVISION – An official from the People’s Defense Organisation of Ye U Township said that PDF forces arrested the four suspects accused of murdering the head monk of the Ohn Tabaung Village monastery in Ye U Township, Sagaing Division and will continue to take action according to the law.
On the night of October 31, masked gunmen attacked the monastery of Ohn Tabaung Village near Ye U, and the head abbot Ashin Kunnika was killed.
The PDF forces were able to arrest and detain the related suspects within 24 hours, and on November 21, the regional military command, people’s administration body, people’s defense organisation and people’s security force were able to arrest the main suspects and other suspects.
“All together, there were five people who killed the monk. Four have been arrested and one is still at large. The cause of murder is known to be personal issues. They have been handed over to the People’s Security Force to be prosecuted according to the existing law,” said an official from the People’s adefence Organisation of Ye U Township.
The four suspects have been handed over to Ye U Township People’s Security Force by the People’s Defence Organisation in order to be prosecuted in accordance with existing laws.
