MYANMAR – An official from Natogyi People’s Defence Force (PDF) reported that the junta checkpoint at 319 mile post on the Yangon-Mandalay Highway was attacked.
Around 3 p.m. on December 12, Natogyi PDF, Myingyan District Battalions 4 and 10, and MDDS reportedly attacked the junta checkpoint in Natogyi Township using drones and from the ground.
The attack lasted around an hour and although the revolutionary forces were able to get near the bunker, they had to retreat without capturing the checkpoint due to the arrival of junta reinforcement.
“We haven’t been able to find out about the casualties on the junta side yet. It was the road connecting Mandalay and Meikhtila so there were a lot of them on the road. Their reinforcement came from the nearby stations. There were a lot of (junta) stations in that area. We want to tell the people to stay away from the junta forces. The battles can happen at any moment,” said the official from Natogyi PDF, Myingyan District Battalion 4.
It is said that four revolutionary soldiers were lightly wounded in the battle and that two funeral cars were seen arriving at the junta station then driving back towards Meikhtila.
