MAGWAY DIVISION – The members of Gangaw District People’s Defence Force (PDF) Battalion 1 are farming rice and it is said that the yield from those farms will be used to support the family members of PDF soldiers who lost their body parts during the revolution.
The farming of Sinthukha rainy season rice began on July 1 and was finished on August 7 and it will also contribute to the ration of the force, said Deputy Battalion Commander Sanay of Gangaw District Battalion 1.
The 12 acres of farmland was a common field belonging to the villagers and the farming was done with permission of the villagers.
Farming duty was allocated to the PDF members but it is said that the local residents also volunteer to help in the fields. Deputy Commander Sanay shared that the input cost of the farming is over two million Kyats.
