MANDALAY DIVISION – The People’s Defence Force (Mogok Strategy) announced on July 28 that they were able to free 14 political prisoners from the prison after capturing Mogok Town.
It was stated that 14 political prisoners, including five women, were released from Mogok Prison.
The total number of prisoners released from prison has not been disclosed.
14 political prisoners were handed over from the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) on July 27 to the Mogok Strategy PDF.
One of the civilians commented, “I’m very glad. We have shouted, “Seize the cities and open the prison gate. If we win, they’ll be free.” They (PDF) have shown and made it happened. Thank you, comrades.”
People Defence Forces led by TNLA attacked the junta camps at Mogok Town on June 25 and was finally captured at 5p.m. on July 24.
At the moment, the military situation is calm in Mogok and the revolutionary forces have warned to beware of the military council’s air threat.
Similarly at Lashio Town, where the Kokang Army -Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) attacked and captured, the political prisoners and others have been released. Details have not yet been announced.
