SHAN STATE – Pa-O People’s Defence Force (PPDF-KK) held a youth talk session for the 25th International Youths Day that fell on August 12.
The joint secretary of the Pa-O National Federal Council (PNFC) who took part in the event shared that a ceremony for the 74th Karen Martyrs’ Day that falls on the same date was held alongside the youth talk session.
“We honoured the fallen revolutionary soldiers including Karen martyrs starting with Saw Ba U and held a talk panel of the revolutionary youths. Hopes and standards for the union as well as future roadmaps for the country were discussed and we also urged to quickly implement programs to rehabilitate the sacrificed lives and dreams of the young people during the interim period or nation building period post military dictatorship,” said PNFC joint secretary Khun Wai Htoo.
Another revolutionary youth proclaimed that “one thing we can guarantee is that as long as we, Generation Z, are around, you dictators will not be allowed to rule.”
The talk session was held at a revolutionary zone in two parts between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on August 12 and was around 20 revolutionary youths took part in the discussion.
Discussions covered the four points of the federal charter, the union will and seven standards, the young martyrs who sacrificed their lives fighting against the military dictatorship in revolutionary zones, prisons and urban campaigns and how to heal the lives and dreams of young people that were lost along those sacrifices.
The theme for this year’s International Youths Day is said to be “From Clicks to Progress Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development”.
