BAGO DIVISION – It was reported that 75 villages have submerged, seven people have died, and more than 148,500 people have been affected by the flood in Taungoo (Taw Oo) District due to the flood, since September 14, according to the report of the Supreme Headquarters of Karen National Union, on the afternoon of September 22.
It was said that not only 20,372.57 acres agriculture lands were destroyed by the flood, but also more than 70 cattle were killed on the eastern part of Sittaung River.
In addition, 6,000 acres of agricultural lands were destroyed and there were more than 70 cattle casualties in Za Yat Gyi (South) of KNU-controlled area.
The flood is the most severe flood for in 58 years, and Taungoo (Taw Oo) District may face food shortage conditions for the towns on mountains in the coming year, according to the statement.
