BAGO DIVISION – Than Myint, the administration officer for Sintaekone Village in Min Hla Township who has been recruiting soldiers for the junta council died after getting shot, reported an official from Tharyarwaddy District Battalion 3802 Company 2.
On August 12 around 2:50 p.m., Than Myint, returning from Min Hla on motorbike, was attacked by People’s Defence Force (PDF) soldiers from Tharyarwaddy District Battalion 3802 Company 2, Company 3 and Min Hla Township PDF near Seinpu Village. He was reported to have died on the spot after getting shot 15 times.
A hand grenade, one mobile phone, a dagger, a tape measure and several documents were said to have been confiscated from his body.
The official from Tharyarwaddy District Battalion 3802 Company 2 explained that Than Myint was targeted because he pressured young people into conscription, extorted the farmers using various reasons, and robbed the civilians using his weapon issued by the junta council to purchase earrings for his wife.
The official added that they will take effective action on those forcibly conscripting young people and causing trouble for the civilians and revolutionary forces in Tharyarwaddy District.
