SAGAING DIVISION – A responsible person of Special Troop of Anyar Revolution (STAR) based in Tabayin Township, Saging Division said that they harvested summer paddy grown for the force’s provisions on July 21.
They sowed the paddy via Kyaekhin method (direct seeding method) on five acres of unused land after receiving permission from the farmers in Tabayin Township and are harvesting it now.
General Secretary Mr Seng of STAR said that the main reason for farming themselves was to become self-sufficient as they are capable of working instead of relying on the donations by civilians and also to not let the unused land go to waste.
The yield of harvest from the five acres of crop is not yet known but broken rice, bran and raw bran received would also be used as food for pigs and cows to avoid wastage.
Mr. Seng added that last year they planted 12 acres of rice and used it as provision for the force and also shared to the locals who needed support. Similarily they planted peanuts and produced 30 viss of peanut oil. It is said the force plans to continue farming in the future as well.
