MYANMAR – Data for Myanmar released the report on September 10 that more than 100,000 civilians’ houses have been burned down during the military coup by the terrorist army in more than 3 years.
In 2024, more than 21,000 houses were burned by military council’s arson attack, and the townships in which about 1,000 to 5,000 houses were destroyed were Kawlin, Kalay, Buthidaung, Myingyan and Monywa townships.
In July 2024, about 1178 civilians’ houses from Sagaing, Tanintharyi and Mandalay Divisions, Karenni State, Bago Division (West), Rakhine State and Southern Shan State were torched in junta council’s arson attacks.
“Data for Myanmar” group estimated that, at least 5,200 homes may have been destroyed in February and March as military council troops burned down the wards of Kawlin Town and almost 40 villages near the town. During the more than 3 years of the military coup, the fighting between the terrorist council and the revolutionary forces intensified, and the military council and its subordinate groups torched the civilians’ homes in areas where the revolutionary forces are strong in strength.
In addition to this, the fascist columns also burned and destroyed the towns and villages where the battles occurred to seize place and the villages supporting the revolutionary forces.
Civilians’ houses were burned down since junta army not only advanced and torched the place, but also shelled heavy weapons, and bombarded in air strikes and fired from warships.
According to the report from “Data for Myanmar”, the total of 2,111 civilian homes were burned down in 2011, 46,856 houses in 2022, 31,484 houses were destroyed in 2023 and 21,012 in 2024 (as of the end of July) due to arsons committed by junta council and lackey organizations.
