THAILAND – A Thai MP criticized that PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who had a meeting with Myanmar junta leader Min Aung Hlaing responsible for the murder and atrocious crimes committed against the people of Myanmar, has no understanding of the human rights violations suffered by millions of Myanmar citizens.
MP Kanavee Suebsang criticized PM Shinawatra for meeting junta leader Min Aung Hlaing who is failing to accept accountability for the Myanmar junta regime’s systematic violations of human rights including the murder of civilians, and for approving the election timeline of the latter.
He pointed out that by meeting with Min Aung Hlaing during the Mekong Countries Summit in Kuming, China, the PM proved the weakness in Thailand’s foreign policy, and raised concerns for diplomatic relationships.
He added that when it comes to Myanmar under a coup council, Thailand needs to reconsider the approach in both the bilateral and general coordination.
He continued that approving the election timeline of the terrorist junta council can be seen as being supportive of the atrocities and wide human rights violations by the latter and thus raised concerns.
