MYANMAR – An official from the Shan Human Rights Foundation said that 68 people were killed in 2 months due to the junta council’s air bombardment and shooting with heavy weapons in 9 townships in northern Shan State and Mogok City in Mandalay Division located along the Muse-Mandalay railway line planned to be built by China.
Between October 9th and December 10th of this year, 68 people were killed and 136 were injured due to the terrorist army’s aerial and heavy weapons attacks. In the attacks total of 339 buildings including schools, hospitals, monasteries, churches, shops and factories were damaged. Most of the townships that were attacked are townships that have been captured by the revolutionary forces, but there are currently no fighting in these areas.
“They are mainly targeting the civilians. Even though there is no fighting and they said that they have attacked the armed forces, but the most casualties are the civilians. And to get China’s favor, they may have bombed because they want to show that they can control the territory in these places, and they want to show that they can threaten Chinese projects,” said an official from the Shan Human Rights Foundation.
The Terrorist War Council has mainly targeted cities located along the northern part of the Muse-Kyaukphyu high-speed railway, which is being projected by China. The Shan Human Rights Foundation said that these areas were announced by terrorist leader Min Aung Hlaing as areas that could be implemented after he met with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang on November 6th, 2024.

According to the Shan Human Rights Foundation, these sub-stations will be supplied from the electricity generated by the dams on Shweli River, Namtu River in the Northern Shan State, the Myitnge River and the Salwin River will be used that are planned and built by Chinese companies.
The terrorist army is attacking the cities with air and heavy weapons in connection with the projects that will be implemented by China include Hsipaw, Mongyai, Hsenwi, Lashio, Kunlong, Nawnghkio, Namhsam, Kutkain, Mogok and Kyaukme.
