MYANMAR – A black teak statue of the people’s leader, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, titled “Marta” is being auctioned to assist the people who have made sacrifices for their beliefs in human rights and freedom and the current highest bid is 5,500 USD, according to auction organizers.
Only two days remain in the auction and the highest bid of 5,500 USD is said to be from the United States of America.
The face of Ms. Suu Kyi is carved onto a black teak by a PDF soldier, and the artwork is said to represent the strength and attitude ofthose who continue to fight for the revolution and democracy.
The wood carving is not just a mere artwork but a symbol for the continued fight for justice, freedom and peace and the statue is being auctioned to assist those who made sacrifices for their beliefs in human rights and freedom.
