MYANMAR – The Ministry of Women, Youths and Children Affairs under National Unity Government (NUG) released that the death toll of women during the Spring Revolution reached 7,322.
This is 19.8 percent of the number of people who died during the Spring Revolution, according to the data collected by the ministry from February 2021 to June 30, 2024.
The yearly female fatality data shows that there were 106 in 2021, 314 in 2022 and 599 in 2023. From January to June 30, 2024, there were 6,303 women, which is the highest number of deaths in 6 months in the annual list.
The number of deaths in 2024 by month shows that January is the highest, followed by March and May. It can also be seen that the number of deaths in June is at number four.
In addition to this, in 2024, the highest number of female deaths occurred in Sagaing Division, followed by Magway Division and Shan State, according to the ministry’s statement.
