MYANMAR- The European Union (EU) announced on September 18 that 1.2 million euros is ready to be provided as emergency aid for the floods in Myanmar.
The EU expressed its condolences to the people of Myanmar who were affected by the subsequent floods caused by Typhoon Yagi and are standing with the victims and their family members.
The World Food Program (WFP)also announced on September 18 regarding emergency food aid to flood-affected areas in Myanmar starting this week.
WFP planned to help up to five million people affected by the flood and their staff will directly distribute the fortified biscuits and one month’s worth of nutritional support to the flood victims. In July and August, before Typhoon Yagi, WFP already provided emergency food aid to 185,000 flood victims.
Despite the difficulties in verifying the information, approximately 631,000 people were affected by floods across the country, the OCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) announced on September 17. It was stated that floods caused damages in various parts of Myanmar, with hundreds of deaths and many missing.
