SAGAING DIVISION – Local news sources said that the terrorist junta council forces are extorting 300,000 Kyats from each of the cargo trucks in Monywa, Sagaing division, without any reason.
The junta council troops are asking for money by blocking the trucks or entering truck gates while patrolling or walking in Monywa. A source close to the truck owners community said that when they enter truck terminals and ask for extortion money, every car found at the terminal has to pay 300,000 kyat per vehicle to the terrorist soldiers.
“They asked for no reason; they said they have to pay for all the cars they see at the gate; they have to pay every day when they come; they can’t say they already paid yesterday; they have to pay again if they come again today,” the source explained.
In Monywa city, the army is patrolling with private cars. In addition to blocking the roads, arresting the trucks and extorting money. It is known that the trucks which are coming especially from Shwebo and Ayartaw are extorted.
Usually there are a lot of arrests on Arzarni Road, almost every day. They are waiting for the cars coming from Shwebo and Ayartaw,” said a Monywa local news source.
The junta council that the extortion demands of such trucks were not for searching and arresting the goods, nor were they searching for security purposes. The local people said that they are making money by bullying for no reason.
