KARENNI STATE – The local IDPs said that the Infantry Battalion (54th Infantry Division) in Loikaw township is firing heavy weapons at Demoso township.
Today, on the morning of August 23rd, 12 heavy weapons were fired and exploded in 5 miles of Demoso township and Ho Phat villages.
“If they shoot, it’s at least 3 days straight. There is absolutely no stopping the day after shooting. At the moment, I haven’t heard of any injuries yet. We heard the sound of heavy weapons. If they keep shooting for the next few days, it is hard to say,” said a refugee.
The casualties and the damage to houses and buildings, are still under investigation, and the junta council planes are flying over Demoso township.
During the past 3 days, those who have been recruited from the Sagaing division are being sent to Karenni through Shwenyaung and are preparing to form a column to Demoso township, according to frontline resistance forces.
