KAREN STATE – The KNU Mutao News reported that 17 prisoners of war, including 3 captains, who were captured from the Khawpoke camp battle, Phapun township, KNU Brigade 5 area, Karen State are provided medical treatments by the KNU.
The KNLA and coalition forces completely captured Khawpoke camp in Phapun township in October 29th to 31st. After that, 17 prisoners of war were captured alive with their weapons while chasing after the soldiers of the junta council who had escaped.
Among those who were captured alive was a company commander from the 340th Light Infantry Battalion, a company commander from 341st Light Infantry Battalion, a company commander from the 19th Infantry Battalion and one medical officer from the 340th Light Infantry Battalion were included. According to the KNU, the injured were given proper medical treatment in accordance with POW (Prisoner of War) procedures.
14 dead bodies from the junta council’s army in the battle to capture the Khawpoke camp. 17 prisoners of war, including 3 captains at the rank of company commander were captured alive with weapons and ammunition. It was learned that there were (11) 60mm mortars, (3) RPG-7s, (1) 81mm mortar, (9) K-3, a land mine (19) packages of topedo, (16) 16 landmines, (10) 14 landmines, (9) attack mines, 2 large communication machines, (13) 60mm shells and 5 rounds of RPG-7 ammo were seized.
