MANDALAY: The funeral procession of Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, the prime minister of Mandalay Division and the vice president of National League for Democracy (NLD), who would be called as Sayar Zaw with respect and values by the leader of Myanmar people Daw Aung San Suu Kyi had been done on the morning of October 8.
It was reported that thousands of people from Mandalay had surrounded the funeral procession of Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, the prime minister of Mandalay Division and the vice president of National League for Democracy (NLD) on the morning of October 8.
Since 10 a.m. on October 8, thousands of people followed the funeral procession of Dr. Zaw Myint Maung whose dead body would be cremated at Taung Inn Myauk Inn cemetery, by motorcycles and cars. The civilians along the road came out of the house to say goodbye. The motorcycles and cars were also known to play the honking along the road of the funeral procession to honour and to say goodbye to the deceased minister.
“There are many motorcycles and cars followed the funeral procession and there are also many motorcycles full of road in front of the car carrying the body of deceased person. Some cars followed it. The civilians came out and say farewell to the deceased along the road. The motorcycles played the honking and the cars which are used for philanthropic task also rang the sirens. The whole scene aroused the feeling of sadness. The funeral procession of our prime minister is heart-breaking and heart touching,” as said by a Mandalay resident.
Dr. Zaw Myint Maung passed away at 3 a.m. on October 7 and his funeral procession was held on October 8.
The members of the junta’s forces were known to be disturbing the civilians who followed the funeral procession of Dr. Zaw Myint Maung. The junta’s forces and the militants (Pyu Saw Htees) reportedly threatened the people who followed the funeral procession by waiting the way back home and inspecting the motorcycles and cars, taking the photos of the civilians and the cars used for philanthropic activities and marching to show their military power with full of uniforms and weapons, as said by Mandalay residents.
