SAGAING DIVISION – An official of the local People’s Defence Force said that the Local Revolutionary Forces attacked five ships of the junta council that were sailing up the Chindwin River near Nyaung Thu Myar Village in Budalin Township.
It is reported that the People’s Defence Forces launched fierce attacks on the five armored ships from Ahlone Sitpin Port in Monywa Township that were sailing upstream in Chindwin River near Nyaung Thu Myar Village, Budalin township at 9:49 a.m. on August 1.
“The battle was fierce. The junta army fired with heavy weapons continuously. They did not even avoid the residential areas. They fired mindlessly. Until now, we don’t dare to go back to the village. Whether the houses are damaged or not will be known only after returning to the village. Now the junta dogs (junta forces) have reached Shwe Sayay Village. There is also fighting there. Also, due to the news that more warships will be arriving from Sitpin port, the people are afraid to go back to the village,” explained a resident of Nyaung Thu Myar Village.
The attack on August 1 morning on five ships of the junta council in the Chindwin River may have resulted in casualties of junta council’s soldiers but there was no damage on the side of the revolutionary forces.
“There battle was focused on attacking the five warships. Four of the ships were cargo ships and one was a passenger speedboat. The battle was against the soldiers on board. The junta council side may have suffered damages. There is no harm to the Revolutionary Forces so far,” said a Chindwin Brother official.
It is learned that the military situation has reached the most tense point between the junta council army and the Revolutionary Army in Kani Township where the junta council ships have reached after continuing to sail up the Chindwin River.
