SAGAING DIVISION – In Ward No. 8 of Shwebo, Sagaing Division, two people, Mr. Paing Shai and Ms. Nway Nway Htway, were accused of being members of the revolution and beaten and arrested by the terrorist army, and their family members have been unable to contact them, some of their friends said.
On October 26th, the terrorist army arrested Mr. Paing Shai and Ms. Nway Nway Htway claiming that they are supporters of the revolutionary groups. They were arrested in Ward No. 8 of Shwebo City, at the corner of Aung Chanthar Market next to Shwe Bo Hsate Hkun Road. It is said that the arrested are residents of Saungtan Village and are doing business in weaving and cotton.
“Their families have lost contact with them. Although they asked for permission to visit the junta council’s police station and No. 8 training school, they were not allowed to see them. The two were not arrested together. Ms. Nway Nway Htway was arrested first. After checking her phone, the owner of the first phone number in the call records belonged to Mr. Paing Shai and they asked her to call him then arrested Mr. Paing Shai,” said one of the friends.
The two people were reportedly arrested by the terrorist army’s patrol at the corner of Aung Chanthar Market next to Shwe Bo Hsate Hkun Road in the morning of October 26th while delivering cloth to Shwebo. The junta council announced that they were arrested because messages contacting the PDF were found on their phones.
In addition, on October 26, the terrorist army arrested four women from Sin Inn Village who were living in Shwebo and doing business in trading woven cloth. Local residents said that the women were released after being extorted a ransom of 100 lakhs.
“The women who were arrested by the army are from Sin Inn Village. They have been running the business in Shwebo for about three years while avoiding the war. They were arrested on October 26th, while returning after buying clothes and bringing a loom weaver from a village north of Shwebo Kantawgyi at the Shwebo Gate, where the terrorist army and Pyu Saw Htee were stationed. They were taken to the No. 8 training unit. They had to pay 100 lakhs as ransom money to be released,” a resident said.
