SHAN STATE- At Pao National Liberation Organization (PNLO)’s control area, Mauk Mae Township, Honam region, in the South of Shan State, there have been daily battles between the military council and PNO joint forces since November 20 until today (November 27). During those fights 31 junta affiliates had been killed, announced the PNLO’s military information officer Khon Rainyan.
The Military Council and the PNO (Pao National Militia Organization) joint forces rejected the appeals of the monks and advanced toward PNLO-controlled areas. There is a battle going on because of an invasion Junta joint column attacking the region.
Starting on November 20, the Junta column entered the Honam region in large numbers and attacked the PNLO forces. Yesterday (November 26) they launched an offensive attack on the PNLA camp in the south of the Honam region, according to the statement released.
“Civilian homes have also been damaged, the extent of which is still being confirmed. From the 20th until today, fighting has been going on every day. The main reason why the fighting is going on is that they have intruded and attack the forest area where we live,” said Khun Rainyan.
The PNLO paid attention to the appeals of the monks and no longer engaged in fighting. The militia (PNO) joint forces neglected the appeals of the monks and started attacking the PNLO camp and villages with heavy weapons and thus the fights resumed.
The PNLO is fighting the military dictatorship; we are not attacking the individual or the fight between the Pao tribes, stated Mr. Khun Rainyan.
On November 20, at around 10:30 a.m., the PNO militia and junta column entered the town after dropping three aerial bombs on the Sai Khao-Honam Pong bridge in PNLO territory, which is frequently used by the public.
