RAKHINE STATE – Due to the junta council’s targeted attacks on civilians, three civilians were killed and ten were injured in Gwa and Maungtaw Townships in recent days.
The October 15 airstrikes by the junta council targeting Daeboak Village near Kalarpyin in Gwa Township killed three civilians and injured five. The deceased have been identified as 42 year old Mr. Tin Maung Shwe, 47 year old Ms. Khin Myo Myint and 50 year old Mr. Tin Shwe while the injured are May Hnin Thu (12), Ms. Cho Cho Win (25), Mr. Myo Myint Aung (30), Ms. Khin San Kyi (43) and Ms. Khin Htwe (59).
Similarly, around 1 a.m. on October 19, junta navy ships attacked Dunyaungpingyi Village in Maungtaw Township, injuring five civilians: Rabiya (17), Ahyars (29), Harsaung (42), Innit (34) and Khawbir (65). The junta council is said to be intentionally targeting civilian zones with air and artillery strikes, under the cover of ongoing battles.
Fighting is intense between the junta and Arakan Army (AA) forces in Ahn Township and the junta council had abducted around 100 residents who were fleeing from Ahn to Magway on October 16. The civilians were headed towards Magway in 15 cars along the Paddan Road when they were taken away by junta forces near Kyeekan Hill and six mile checkpoint.
Family members are worried as it is not known where those 100 people were taken by junta forces.
After AA captured the Tawhein Hill Strategic Base in Ahn Township that is of strategic importance to the junta Western Command, AA forces are currently attacking the junta bases near Ahn.
