SAGAING DIVISION – A revolutionary soldier was killed during a junta raid and two civilians were killed by junta artillery attacks near Sagaing City.
Locals reported that around 10:30 a.m. on December 7, a column of about 80 junta forces from the Ngarhtetgyi Pagoda in Sagaing launched a raid towards Kadatkyun Village on the Ayeyarwaddy River bank to the southwest of Sagaing and murdered a resistance soldier.
“It is said that he was captured during the raid and was murdered and set on fire. He was reportedly part of the PDO (People’s Defence Organisation),” said a resident of Sagaing.
Moreover, the junta forces that stayed behind at Ngarhtetgyi Pagoda were reported to have shelled Nyaungkone Village and the explosion killed a 50 year old woman while a 70 year old man also passed away from a heart attack after the sound of the explosion sent him into shock, reported Wetlet Informational Network.
“They fired 60mm shells. It was not that far. The shell landed in the village and hit the people,” said a member of Wetlet Informational Network.
It is also said that the 30 year old son of the deceased woman was also injured, hit by shrapnel in his arm.
The junta council had raided and torched the villages in northern Sagaing during November as well.
