YANGON DIVISION – UMFCCI said that due to the economic embargo by the United States and Europe, manufactured goods, including clothes made in Myanmar are fraudulently printed and exported with Made in Thailand labels.
A UMFCCI source said that U Aung Min, the central executive of UMFCCI, said the above at the limited central executive meeting in the office of UMFCCI on June 20th.
Made in Myanmar products are not accepted by the United States and Europe due to the economic embargo, so it is reported that they are being shipped through Thailand under the fraud label “Made in Thailand.”.
“Mainly garments. There are also garments and other products produced here. There are also Myanmar products. If it is labeled Made in Myanmar, Japan and China will accept it. But Europe and the United States do not accept it. That is why we label Made in Thailand instead of Made in Myanmar. Then we send it to Thailand. Through Thailand, we send it to Europe and the United States,” said a UMFCCI source.
At present, products with fraudulently printed Made in Thailand labels are being blocked at the border to Thailand. So they were exported through Kawthaung to Ranong and to Mae Sai in Thailand via Tachilek and then they are being shipped to the American and European markets.
