MYANMAR – The United States asked the junta council to put an end to its crimes of terror against the civilians and to respect the will of the people on September 15, International Democracy Day, adding that the US stands with the people of Myanmar who desire freedom and democracy.
“We ask the military dictator to stop terrorizing the people, to free those who are unjustly detained, to provide humanitarian assistance to those who need it and to respect the will of the people,” stated the US embassy in Yangon.
The embassy also added that it is reflected on the International Democracy Day that having a government elected by the people is what democracy means to the people and democracy is the most permanent road in the human world to achieve peace, prosperity and safety.
The UK embassy also announced that they will always support the democracy goals of the Myanmar citizens on the International Democracy Day.
The embassy also added that they are keeping the people affected by the flood in their prayers as a large portion of the Myanmar society is affected by the terrible flood, additionally informing that the UK is working on response programs to provide monetary and humanitarian aid to the people affected by the flood.
The EU also stated that the International Democracy Day is a day to remind the importance of leadership and said that good leaders in every culture pay attention to the will of the people and have the duty to rule fairly to ensure everyone is healthy and happy in mind and body.
The EU embassy urged that future Myanmar should be a country that listens to the voice of the people and prioritises the will of the people.
