KACHIN STATE – China did not reopen the Kanpaiti border gate at the China-Myanmar border that is now under the control of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) but it was only opened temporarily to allow its nationals and cargo trucks from banana plantations to pass, according to a KIA source.
Kanpaiti border gate was opened temporarily on November 25 but China only allowed its nationals and cargo trucks stuck in Kachin State to enter while blocking any person or goods from flowing into Kachin State.
“China only allowed the trucks from banana plantations to pass, only the trucks coming from the Kachin side. They didn’t allow passage into Kachin State from China. It’s just them recalling their people and cars. It was not a regular opening of border gates,” explained the KIA source.
KIA-led revolutionary forces captured Kanpaiti Town which was previously controlled by junta subordinate Zakhon Tein Yang on November 20 evening.
After KIA captured the border towns and gates on the China-Myanmar border, China unilaterally shit down the border gates and officially announced that the gates will only be reopened after negotiations with the junta council.
