MYANMAR – NUG released a statement that many soldiers from the junta side died in the Kanaung operation which was jointly operated by Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Ministry of Defence of National Unity Government, People’s Defence Force (Mandalay).
Battles were launched under the operation last July 15 and have continued as of September 10.
It is stated that 82 soldiers including officers from the junta side died and 19 were injured. Revolutionary forces could also seize arsenals from junta forces while two from NUG allied forces fell during the operation.
During the battles, junta forces are reported to have used civilians as human shields and also violated human rights.
Ministry of Defence, NUG stated that the current military tension was high with the junta council using 400 troops from infantry battalion 252 and 257 under division 99 and 101 and light infantry battalion 502 under No.1 military operations command to face off against the revolutionary forces.
