KARENNI STATE – It has been reported that during the 10-days battle between the junta council combined forces and the alliance of People’s Defence Forces in Karenni State, 40 junta council troops were killed and the members of PDFs managed to confiscate many ammunitions.
An accountable person of the news and information department of Karenni Nationalities Defence Force mentioned that the battles broke out between the junta council forces and the alliance forces near Daw Lyar Khu Village in the eastern part of Demoso during May 14 and May 23. During the battles, 40 junta council troops were killed, including a captain and two lieutenants.
He continued that they saw the dead bodies of the junta council troops and added, “We witnessed the stars that showed their ranks on their uniforms. The death on the junta council’s side can be higher than we witnessed.”
Two junta troops were also captured alive and eight MA-1 machine guns, one MA-2, three MA-3, one MA-4, rocket-propelled grenades and ammunition were confiscated.
The battles broke out between the combination of junta council forces: light infantry battalion 425, light infantry battalion 517, infantry battalion 287 and the alliance of PDFs: Battalions 4 and 6 of Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF), KNDF – Explosion and Technique Department (KNDF – ETD), KNDF – Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (KNDF – UAV) Loikaw People Defense Force and Karenni Army (KA).
During the battles, seven members of KNDF and one member of KA sacrificed their lives for the country and the junta council launched aerial bombardments at least ten times using fighter jets.
The battles are still intense in the eastern part of Demoso and the junta council is still conducting aerial bombardments.
Battles broke out in Pinlaung, Demoso and Pekhon in Karenni State and the junta council conducted aerial bombardments, targeting the civilian villages.
According to the 2014 Myanmar Population and Housing Census, there are 25 village tracts and a population of over 78,000 people living in Demoso Township, Karenni State.
