SAGAING DIVISION – A junta militant known for robbing civilians passing through Taungphilar Ward in Kalay was found lying on the ground with gunshot wounds at approximately 9 a.m. on Thursday (August 3).
His body, discovered on Kham Road, was reportedly collected by other junta forces.
“I heard five gunshots. The junta troop fell to the ground. I’m not sure if he survived or not. A large number of junta soldiers collected the body. There were pools of blood on the road,” said a resident.
The residents are unaware of who shot the junta militant and the reasons behind the shooting.
In Taungphilar Ward of Kalay, junta forces have established a checkpoint where they engage in arresting, extorting, and robbing civilians passing through the area. Additionally, they have been arbitrarily murdering and abducting civilians, accusing them of being members of the PDF (People’s Defense Force), according to the accounts of residents.
“They would stop motorcycles as they pass the road and inspect everything,” a local recalled.
Following the incident with the junta militant, locals reported that the junta council has increased their arrests and extortions in Taungphilar, Myohla, Sanmyo, and near the sunflower building in Tarhan.
