SAGAING DIVISION – Junta soldiers who were extorting money from truck drivers were attacked near the shops in Zalote Village, Monywa Township. One junta soldier was killed, and two others were wounded, according to the Devil Battalion, Monywa District Battalion 22.
On June 25, at approximately 3:50 p.m., a group of three junta soldiers were extorting money from truck drivers at two locations: Monywa Myoshaung Road, and near Zalote Village, when the defence force members launched an attack on them.
“We fired at the three junta soldiers near the shop in Zalote Village, and all of them fell down. One was killed instantly, and the others were seriously wounded. We are unsure if they succumbed to their injuries. These two junta soldiers were carried away,” said Bo. Natsoe of the Devil Battalion.
The Devil Battalion, Monywa District Battalion 22, and Monywa People’s Security Forces are said to have jointly carried out the attack. After the incident, the junta soldiers went to Zalote Village for inspection.
The junta casualties, based on witness reports, could not be confirmed independently. On June 17, a junta vehicle on patrol along Bo Tayza Road in Monywa City, was hit by a landmine detonated by Devil Battalion.
