CHIN STATE – Fighting has been continuing between Mindat and Kyaukhtu Townships, said Mindat CDF’s military region commander, Salai Nai Tum.
“The clashes are still occurring today (May 31). The junta gunships also flew over but didn’t carry out air attacks,” he said, adding that the junta council has also reportedly reinforced their numbers.
Since May 28, mine attacks and clashes have been occurring daily in the region. Over 200 junta members coming from Mindat Town were attacked by Mindat CDF, Kanpetlet CDF, Gangaw District Battalion 13, and Battalion 8 coalition forces on May 29 at the jungle road, leading to the deaths of junta troops.
Also, one CDF comrade was seriously wounded, as informed on his Facebook. “The wounded comrade escaped from death. But the bullet penetrated from the temple to the eyes and lost one eye. We are carrying out emergency treatment to save the remaining eye. If the public wishes to support medical fees, I can accept it as the military region commander. The appreciation letter will be released from the Central Committee. We really need financial support,” wrote Salai Nai Tum.
Also, on the night of May 29, CDF coalition forces attacked the junta forces that retreated to Htin Chaung Village, leading to junta casualties.
The clashes also occurred on May 30, according to local sources. They said that the junta soldiers near the jungle from the entrance of Htin Chaung Village raided the village, extorted rice, and killed livestock.
“The junta soldiers and police that went to San Hill Range arrived near Than U Dam,” said a local. The public were also warned to remain cautious because of the junta’s offensives.
