KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE – A revolutionary soldier on the ground said that fighting between the military council and the People’s Defence Forces has been intense since August 2 in the new village of Ngwetaung, that is near Thaedaung, between Demoso Township and Hpruso Township and there have been aerial bombings.
“They are bombing by plane. They are bombing both day and night. They bombed last night as well, in the area of the battle. The battle is not over yet. It is not convenient for us to talk about the details,” he said.
Since August 9, the weather is clear, so the junta council is mainly relying on heavy weapons and aerial bombardment.
A junga column from Demoso and another one from Hpruso are trying to approach the new village of Ngwetaung. It is said that there are about 200 terrorist soldiers in each column. It is known that during the fighting between the two sides, the military council side suffered heavy damages and some weapons and ammunition were also seized, but it is difficult to tell the exact details.
Fighting is raging in various parts of Karenni State, and the military council is focusing on heavy weapons and airstrikes. The progressive Karenni force, PKPF, announced on August 1 that the junta regime had carried out 572 airstrikes in more than two years since the military coup.
