SHAN STATE: Though the local farmers and the internally displaced people in Pekon Township, southern Shan state are reaping the ripe paddies and corns, they are reportedly worried about the reckless firing of the heavy artillery by the junta’s forces, as said by the local people.
“There can be possible dangers while growing crops in hill side plantation but the farmers in the region have only this business of growing crops for the families. Now it is the time to reap but we are worried,” as said by the Pekon local man.
Despite the fact that there has not been any great damage to Pekon local people due to the junta’s heavy artillery but the local people have to flee for lives and being displaced while working.
As the junta’s forces fire the heavy artillery without any battles in the region, the local people have some concerns, as said by 30-year-old woman from Pekon.
“Having battles or not having battles in the region, the junta’s forces are firing heavy artillery. We, the local people, have risen heartbeats and mental distress. We feel upset as we hear the firing artillery days and nights,” as continued by the above woman.
Pekon local people said they have to listen to the military news every day for their safety while working in the plantation for their survival. Those who work near the junta’s forces also take the permission of the junta’s forces to work in the plantation, as said by the local people.
