MYANMAR – The National Unity Government (NUG) announced on May13 that a meeting of the Humanitarian and Disaster Response Commission of NUG for the emergency response to Cyclone Mocha (MOCHA) was held and it was decided to set aside 1 million US dollars for the emergency response and to use 10 percent of the tax revenues.
The meeting was held on May 13 morning. Commission Chairman Acting President Duwa Lashi La, Commission Vice Chairman Union Prime Minister Mann Win Khaing Than and Union Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Dr. Win Myat Aye attended.
The meeting approved the formation of Emergency Operations Coordination Committee (EOCC) and started working according to the responsibilities of the task force. It has been decided to establish a fund of USD 1 million for the cyclone emergency response.
In addition, it was agreed to use 10 percent of the tax revenue as an emergency fund for response to storms in Sagaing and Magway, to verify and approve the news to be released by the relevant ministry for the release of news related to the response of storm, including weather news, and to release the news to public in a timely manner. It’s to take the responsibilities by EOCC for obtaining international assistance and issuing NUG policy statements.
During the emergency periods, people administration team and people defence teams have to ensure that there is no interruption in communication during storm-related emergency activities, it has been decided to provide timely instructions for preparing for the cyclone.

-Cooperation between organizations in states and regions that may be affected by cyclone and international organizations
-To announced updated news about cyclone and the timely issuance of warnings by NUG.
