TANINTHARYI DIVISION – According to a local, back and forth firefights broke out in Heinda village, Dawei township, in the afternoon of August 2 and the schools in the village had to close temporarily.
The sounds of heavy weapons and small arms could be heard in Heinda village at around 12 a.m.
The locals mentioned that the revolutionary forces had attacked the junta council troops stationed in Heinda village and there were back and forth firefights.
A local woman mentioned that “At first, we had heard the sounds of heavy weapons and small arms. Following that, the junta council troops desperately fired back. The place where the confrontation broke out was so close to the village, we didn’t know where to run.”
She continued that the sounds of heavy weapons and small arms were heard until 1 p.m.
When the gunshots were heard, the basic education high school and elementary school in Heinda village were closed for half day and the parents of the students had come and picked up their children.
The junta council troops fired around 5 rounds of heavy weapons and the shelling were landed onto the nearby forests of the village.
A unit of 30 junta council troops have been stationed in Heinda village since December 2022. They recklessly fired heavy weapons and small arms during the nights, frequently.
Heinda village, around 30 miles away from Dawei, is a place where the famous Heinda mining is located.
