TANINTHARYI DIVISION – An official of Oak-Aw Column (Dawei Township) reported that two junta soldiers were killed when they attacked the junta security checkpoint in Pakari Village, Dawei Township last Friday (July 28).
At around 6:39 p.m., the junta soldiers at the security gate on Ywarlal Road intersection, who were drunk full time and collecting money illegally from passersby, were ambushed by the defence force. The firefight lasted for about 30 minutes where two junta soldiers were reportedly killed and two others were seriously injured.
“During the guerrilla attack, about five to six soldiers were at the security gate. Two were killed and two were injured. The gate is a checkpoint for cars and not too far from the local police station. No reinforcement came for junta troops as it was a guerrilla attack. But heavy shells were reportedly fired from the police station. The shelling was after our comrades retreated, at around 10:00 p.m. The junta troops were arbitrarily firing heavy weapons alongside the village,” said an official from the Oak-Aw Column (Dawei Township).
The bodies of two soldiers who were killed in the attack were reportedly picked up by about 20 security forces in two cars.
Luckily, People’s Defence Force members and the locals were not harmed although the junta arbitrarily fired heavy weapons.
As PDFs are escalating attacks on junta troops, they requested the locals to avoid going near junta camps and stations or anywhere they are stationed, as announced by the Oak-Aw Column.
