TANINTHARYI DIVISION – The attack on junta hidden sentries and a car carrying junta soldiers near the Government Technological College (GTC) in Dawei Township had killed ten junta soldiers, said an official from Dawei Guerrilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF).
At around 7:15 a.m. on September 15, junta soldiers on board a Toyota Vigo truck that came to set up hidden sentries near Harli Gwae as security for the visit of junta ministers were sniped, each of the four shot killing one junta troop. Then the junta terrorists that came to the site were attacked by revolutionary forces, resulting in the death of one more junta soldier and injured around six.
Then at 12 p.m. on that day when the junta minister arrived at the GTC, revolutionary forces once again attacked the junta sentries with 79mm and 80mm mortars, killing five and injured around ten.
“It was a minister but we are not clear which one. The junta sentries had been set up for a while, since before 6 a.m. in that area. There were around 15 dogs (junta soldiers) near Harli Gwae. We went to snipe them. Coincidentally, a Vigo truck came and dropped off (junta troops). There were around ten on board. Because it was within range and we also brought snipers, the attack was more effective. As we sniped like that, those sentries came and surround the area. We took the initiative and attacked them. The resulting battle lasted quite a while. We could only confirm one (junta) death in that battle, the other casualties cannot be confirmed. What went down at 12 p.m. was we fired three rounds of 80mm mortars while the (junta) minister was at the GTC. All three exploded. As for 79mm, we fired around five or six rounds,” explained the official of DGRF.
The attacks were jointly conducted by DGRF, Dawei People’s Defence Force Company 2 and Oak Awe Column Company 1 and the revolutionary forces were able to return unharmed.
