KAREN STATE – Karen National Union (KNU) announced that 12 guns and a lot of ammunition were seized as nine junta soldiers were killed while other soldiers fled the camp when they stormed and captured the terrorist army’s “Yay Ta Shaut” camp near Paiklan Village Kawkareik Township, on the Thai-Myanmar border.
On Thursday (September 14), starting from 7:55 in the morning, the terrorist military council camp was attacked and at 8:20 a.m., KNLA captured the Yay Ta Shaut camp of the terrorist military council. Nine terrorist soldiers were killed and the other soldiers fled the camp. A large number of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorist army camp.
From the capture of the above mentioned camp, the following weapons: one MA-1, two MA-2, one MA-3 rifles, twk MA-4 guns, one RPG-7, two 60 mm, two pistols and onr carp tail machine gun as well as 70 rounds of RPG-7, 40 rounds of 81mm shells, 110 rounds of 60mm shells, 40 rounds of M-79 shells, 2,800 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 800 rounds of 7.62 ammunition, 20 bounding land mines, 23 blast land mines; three directional land mines, one large communication device, one sheet of map; 20 grenades; and two compass were seized.
The attack was carried out by Battalion 18 of the KNLA – Karen National Liberation Army and the Joint Revolutionary Forces. It was reported that a member of the revolutionary forces was killed in action and three comrades were injured for the sake of the country and people.
The junta council camps located within Dupalaya District, the KNU Brigade 6 Administered Area, and the terrorist columns that invaded the area were raided and intercepted by the KNLA – revolutionary joint forces on a daily basis, by guerrilla warfare and so, many terrorist soldiers have been killed or injured, causing junta council soldiers and family members in the terrorist army camp to be demoralized. It is said that there are many who left the junta army and surrendered to the KNU.
