KARENNI STATE – The 2nd Battalion of the Karenni Army (KA) announced on Friday (August 25) that 12 bodies of junta soldiers were found while clearing the border area and that weapons and ammunition were seized during the attack on junta light infantry battalion (LIB) 519 and 334.

It is reported that there had been a two-hour-long battle on August 23 between the Karenni Army and the junta column (from Shan State based LIB 519 and 334) which came to military council point (3222) and (2888) to deliver some rations and for security reinforcement (so that more rations could be dropped by plane).
On August 24, while clearing the area, 12 dead bodies of junta soldiers were found.

In addition, two 60 mm long launchers and two small launchers, a (carp tail) rifle, two MA4, five MA3, five MA2, three MA1, a 9MM rifle, twenty-three rounds of 60mm grenades, thirty rounds of RPG-7, 142 rounds of 40mm grenades, 38 IEDs, 47 hand grenades, two M18(A1) mines, thirty M14 landmines, 74 magazines, 12,000 rounds of 5.56mm bullets, 600 rounds of 7.72mm ammunition and three communication devices were reportedly confiscated.

Three Karenni Army (KA) soldiers reportedly received (not life-threatening) injuries during the battle.
The junta LIB 334 and 519 were the ones that attempted to seize a Karenni Army camp in the Shartaw region last March. During the battles at that time, the Karenni Army reportedly collected the bodies of two junta soldiers and their ammunition.
