SAGAING DIVISION – On Wednesday (November 29), clashes intensified in Tigyaing Downtown around 6 a.m., despite a temporary cessation of fighting for a few days.
“Ayeyarwaddy Bridge was the starting point of the junta soldiers’ attack, and the battles intensified in downtown,” reported a resident.
At 12:09 p.m., the junta council conducted four airstrikes in Tigyaing Downtown, according to a PDF comrade. “A fighter jet from Myitkyina carried out the airstrikes,” he stated.
The effectiveness of the airstrikes and the number of casualties remain unknown. Clashes between PDF and junta forces in Tigyaing Downtown had escalated on November 6 but ceased on November 12.
On November 21, Arakan Army (AA) comrades and PDF forces attacked junta forces at three junction roads: Kyat Thon Khin Village, Tigyaing Township. The battle resumed on November 29.
Junta soldiers fortified bunkers at Mya Thein Tan Hill in No.1 Residential Ward, Tigyaing Town, and also set fire to civilians’ houses nearby.
Civilians had already fled before the fighting began on November 6.
