MAGWAY DIVISION – OPRF (Oppressed People’s Revolution Force) reported that local defence forces attacked the junta security gate at the entrance of Natmauk on Tuesday (August 8) afternoon in commemoration of the 8888 uprising.
Around 8 gunshots were said to be fired at the gate while about ten junta forces were stationed there.
“Normally, there are around 20-30 junta forces, both soldiers and police, at that gate. It is open 24 hours a day, collecting road tolls since the military coup. This morning (August 8), we fired some gunshots at them just to scare them,” said Comrade Kyaw Gyi, a member of OPRF.
He continued that they are still investigating if there were any junta casualties and also added that they had to give up the attempt to attack the same gate on June 19 due to discrepancy in numbers.
OPRF had attacked the Saikaung Village police station and junta checkpoint in Natmauk on July 24. The team has also provided free healthcare to the people displaced by junta offensives.
