SHAN STATE – The junta reinforcements delivered by helicopter to defend the junta council’s Sakhanthit camp in Namkhan in northern Shan State were eliminated by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), according to a December 13 release.
On December 12, nearly 100 junta troops were delivered by helicopters to the cemetery at Naungkaung Village and the football field at Kunlon Village in Namkhan Township to reinforce Sakhanthit camp.
TNLA defeated those reinforcements, resulting in heavy casualties on the junta side and TNLA seized 19 weapons, four boxes of ammunition, communication devices, medicine, and military equipment.
TNLA added that the junta council has been conducting hundreds of air and artillery strikes daily to defend its Sakhanthit camp, even intentionally targeting the civilian villages in Namkhan Township.
During the ongoing battle for Sakhanthit camp, the junta council has carried out 221 airstrikes using jet fighters, 62 airstrikes using Y8/Y12 planes, and 17 airstrikes using Mi35 choppers, while the junta bases in Mantat and Namphatka have also fired at least 350 rounds of heavy artillery, stated the TNLA information department.
