KACHIN STATE- It is reported Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Junta troops fought a fierce battle at Aungja village near Nam Sanyang area of Waingmaw Township last Saturday (September 9) and the junta forces suffered many casualties, according to military sources in Kachin.
The KIA and the junta forces have been fighting frequently since the beginning of July and had a fierce battle near Aungja village on September 9, at around 8:00 a.m.
“Fierce fighting in Aungja village near Nam Sanyang. At 8:00 a.m., thirty junta troops from the Aung Jashi military camp were intercepted and attacked by KIA forces. Twenty-seven killed and three reportedly escaped. The bodies of 27 were piled up and weapons and ammunition were reportedly seized,” said a Kachin military news source.
According to local news sources, the military council army in Dawhpumyang, Momauk Township is preparing to leave food convoys and reportedly opening heavy weapons from their bases on Saturday morning (September 9).
During the battles broke out in Nam Sanyang area, KIA defended and attacked against the Junta forces; ambushing the military convoys, intercepting and attacking its columns, and carrying out landmine attacks along the Myitkyina – Bhamo road.
