MAGWAY DIVISION – An official of Young Force – UG stated that there were junta casualties in a mine attack on junta forces that came in a funeral car to pick up the dead body of a Pyu Saw Htee (junta-backed militia) thug near Konetetkan Village in Pakokku Township.
The junta forces reportedly came to collect the killed Pyu thug on Saturday (July 1) morning, and their car entered a mine range and was blasted in two points with clusters of IEDs (improvised explosive devices).
“A defence force eliminated the Pyu militant yesterday (June 30) and, assuming that the body would be collected, set up mines in the area. The funeral car stopped in the mine range, but we didn’t detonate the mines as we weren’t clear yet if those on board were civilians. We only confirmed that they were junta dogs (soldiers) when they alighted based on the weapons and the equipment. So we detonated as they were leaving after picking up the body,” said the official of Young Force – UG.
He added that there could be possible junta casualties and that junta forces opened fire wildly from inside the car as they left.
The stated attack was said to have been jointly conducted by Young Force – UG, a company of Pakokku Township People’s Defence Organisation, and Nalsimachar (No Borders) People’s Defence Force. The members of the defence forces are said to be unharmed, while the attacked junta troops returned to the Inpin checkpoint and fired rounds of heavy artillery towards the surrounding villages.
Civilians are requested to have the windows rolled down when driving on the Pakokku-Myaing Road, and social volunteer groups and charity organisations are also asked to inform the related People’s Defence Forces in order to prevent accidents.
