MAGWAY DIVISION – An official from the Pakokku People’s Defence Force (PPDF) stated that nine junta soldiers were killed in a mine attack on a junta convoy and column on the Pakokku-Pauk Road on Wednesday (August 22).
At around 5:00 p.m., a junta column and convoy of 300 soldiers heading to Pakokku Division 101 was attacked with two large landmines (at two points) on the Pakokku-Pauk Road, only 8 miles away from Pakokku Town. And at around 7:00 p.m., the convoy was attacked with two large mines (at three points), killing nine terrorist soldiers, injuring thirteen and a car was also reportedly damaged in the attack.
“Both the convoy and the security forces on foot had left from Pauk Township for one to two days. They have been marching and moving along the Pakokku-Kamma-Pauk- Kyaukhtu Road. Yesterday (August 22), the column got close to Pakokku Town and may have reached the town by now. At 5 p.m. on August 22, two improvised explosive devices in yellow boxes, were detonated at two points. At 7:00 p.m., two IED yellow boxes were detonated at 3 points,” stated an official from the Pakokku People’s Defence Force.
The attack was carried out by the PPDF and The Red Revolters, and the defence forces were able to fall back safely.
