SAGAING DIVISION – According to a Kachin military source, the joint revolutionary forces seized control of Pinlebu Town on Tuesday evening (November 7).
Starting November 3, many military council camps in Sagaing Division were attacked simultaneously by Kachin Independence Army (KIA)-led Sagaing Spring Columns and in the past few days, they have captured control of Kawlin and Khampat Towns in Tamu.
“Yesterday (November 7), KIA-PDF alliance seized control of Pinlebu Town in Sagaing Division,” said a Kachin military source.
During the town occupying battle, military council troops were reportedly killed and injured. The military situation, including the confiscated ammunition, is still under verification.
A local resident also said that the revolutionary groups have taken control of Pinlebu Town and the official announcement will be released soon.
A news source stated that the military council troops in Pinlebu Town surrendered that night holding a white flag.
“Last night (November 7), military soldiers held a white flag and marched up the bridge in town,” said the source.
After the town was captured by the PDF on the night of November 7, the military council launched aerial attacks twice around 8:00 p.m.
Pinlebu is surrounded on the east by Wuntho, on the south by Kawlin and Kyunhla, on the west by Phaung Pyin and in the north by Banmauk Townships. It is located in Kathar District and has a population of over 5,800 in the urban area and more than 79,000 people in the countryside (rural area), according to the 2019 population census.
The Ministry of Defence of the National Unity Government usually publishes the news of town seizing battles, but there is no news release about Pinlebu Town yet.
